The Pendulum Takes Shape

A rough sketch of what the final design will look like.  A pendulum swings in the center of three cable-stayed legs.  The drawing is made when the paper moves under an inkwell.
A sketch of the pendulum bob.  This will hold the paper as it swings below the inkwell.  Three metal-lined holes will attach to cables , which will be suspended from a ball joint.
The ball joint with three cables attached.

The inkwell and removable attachment to make refilling and washing easier.  The valve allows easy control of the flow of ink or paint.

After I drew the widgets, scanned them, painted them with watercolor, and scanned them again, I now had several images that could be collaged in photoshop.  I used the verb, "to compliment," to arrange the widgets in this composition.  The construction lines of the drawing and the geometry of the diffeerent widgets each compliment each other.  The colors, being complimentary, also compliment each other.

Widget Drawings

Here are some of the drawings I created of the widgets.  I left several construction lines.  I also decided to go in and add watercolor to the drawings and scanned them.  I chose blue and orange because they're complimentary.
